Biography
Alan Poindexter was born in Paducah, Kentucky on October 16, 1961. He completed his undergraduate work in 1983 from Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a B.S. degree in Police Administration with a minor in Forensic Science. He received his J.D. degree in 1997 from the Nashville School of Law, where he served as a member of the American Inns of Court and graduated with honors.

Upon graduation from Eastern Kentucky University, Alan was employed by the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department. In 1987 he was a finalist for officer of the year. While employed with the Metro Nashville Police Department Alan was assigned to a joint State and Federal Task Force on Organized Crime as an undercover investigator. While on the Task Force, he was responsible with others for the successful investigation and prosecution of several local politicians, police officials, and organized crime figures, which resulted in significant convictions, and millions of dollars in forfeitures. In 1993, Alan left the Police Department and enrolled in the Nashville School of Law. He graduated with Honors in 1997, and joined the law firm of Rochelle, McCulloch, and Aulds, (RMA) where has been a partner since 2004.

Alan has significant trial experience at both the State and Federal levels. He has successfully litigated a variety of cases, ranging from personal injury to murder trials. His areas of practice include, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, Trucking Litigation, Product Liabilities, Criminal Defense, Juvenile Criminal, Utilities, Condemnation, and Agricultural Law. Over his nearly twenty (20) years of experience, Alan has recovered millions of dollars for injured clients in personal injury, wrongful death, trucking litigation, and products liability matters. He has successfully represented hundreds of individuals charged with criminal matters ranging from juvenile charges to first-degree murder. Alan has expanded his practice to include the representation of clients in the Federal Crop Insurance Program, as well as clients with migrant farm labor issues. In addition to his significant experience in trial work, he has successfully argued Criminal and Civil cases before the Tennessee Court of Appeals, the Tennessee Supreme Court, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Alan has been appointed as a Special Prosecutor and has presided as a Special Judge.

Alan is admitted to practice in all Tennessee State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been appointed on a temporary basis to litigate matters in several other states. He is a current member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the Fifteenth Judicial Bar Association, the Tennessee Association of Justice, and the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a former member of the Tennessee Advisory Board on Juvenile Justice, and the Wilson County Juvenile Justice Review Board. Alan has served two terms as a board member for the non-profit agency, Prospect, which provides services and employment opportunities to individuals with special needs.
