Debra L. Dishmon joined the law firm of Rochelle, McCulloch & Aulds, PLLC, as an associate attorney in May, 2016. Debra has over 20 years’ experience in the field of law, most of which has been in the various areas considered family law. Debra has extensive experience in cases involving the Department of Children’s Services, divorce, and custody, child support, paternity, termination of parental rights, and conservatorships. Debra enjoys the necessary research and writing involved in appellate practice and has been successful more often than not while filing and defending cases at the Court of appeals. Debra also has experience in probate matters, landlord/tenant issues, small claims, and other areas of civil litigation.

Debra is a graduate of John Overton High School. She graduated highest in her class from the Paralegal Studies program at Volunteer State Community College in 1997. Debra worked as a paralegal at a prominent Nashville law firm while completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at Trevecca Nazarene University in 1998.

Debra graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in December, 2000 with her Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree. During law school Debra worked as a research and writing assistant for a local attorney, and was honored to be appointed as a Student Materials Editor for the Tennessee Law Review Editorial Board.

Debra was admitted to practice law in the Tennessee state courts in June, 2001, and was admitted to practice in the 6th Circuit U.S. Federal District Court in 2010. Debra began her practice as a solo practitioner in an office with another attorney, and then opened her own office in 2003. From 2003 – 2012, Debra’s practice focused primarily on divorce, custody, and juvenile law. In June, 2012, Debra was appointed as Assistant General Counsel for Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, for the counties of Wilson, Trousdale and Rutherford. In that capacity, Debra prosecuted dependent-neglected and abuse cases on behalf of the State of Tennessee. Debra left the Dept. of Children’s Services in May, 2016 when she accepted the position with Rochelle, McCulloch & Aulds, PLLC.

Debra is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the 15th Judicial District Bar Association. She actively supports several local charitable organizations benefiting women and children. She is a former Community Board Member for Habitat for Humanity, and a former Board of Directors Member for Southern Starrs, which provides equine and animal assisted activities for special needs children. Outside the office, Debra enjoys spending time with her family; spoiling her grandchildren; cooking at home for family and friends; hiking; reading; and gardening.
