Rochelle Honored at Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet

RMA founding partner Bob Rochelle was honored at the annual Lebanon Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet with the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Bob was born November 25, 1945. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1963. He attended Cumberland University and Middle Tennessee State University, where he obtained his B. S. in 1968. He earned his J. D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1969. Bob was a member of the U. S. Army from 1969 – 1971 and is a Vietnam veteran.

Bob served as Wilson County’s first County Attorney from 1974 to 1987. In 1982, he was elected State Senator and served for 20 years, advancing to the position of Speaker Pro Tem. He was in the Leadership Group of the legislature and dealt with all major issues facing our State. Bob was the Chairman of the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR) from 1996 to 2002, and he gained national recognition for his legislation in 1998 which resolved multiple issues relating to city and county government relations, such an annexation and revenue sharing.

Bob was a founding member of Rochelle, McCulloch & Aulds, PLLC in 1987 with Jere McCulloch & Jo Ann Aulds. Bob has been instrumental in the expansion of services in Wilson County through his representation of the Water and Wastewater Authority; the Joint Economic and Community Development Board; and the Lebanon Special School District. Bob’s knowledge of legislation and property taxation issues has led others across the State to call on him to assist in their own county’s enforcement of delinquent tax assessments.

Bob has been involved in the American Legion, the Chamber of Commerce, the Lebanon Morning Rotary Club (and was Charter President), the 15th Judicial District Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. He received the Lebanon Jaycees Distinguished Service Award, the Volunteer State Community College Award for Distinguished Public Service and received the President’s Award for outstanding service to the Tennessee Association of Property Tax Professionals in 2016.
